By the by, what's this I'm hearing about some challies that may or may not have gotten some sort of new, more powerful engine recently (1700 hp someone stated)? Just a rumour from some guy off the internet I happened to hear, but would be interesting to know.

Tankie2ndrtr should be able to answer that one seeing as he's in an armoured regiment.

The army are currently in talks with BAE reference a German MTU powerpack... but Hell is more than likely to freeze over before the army buys it.. Think of the cost in 1) the packs 2) training the troops 3) converting 4 platforms 4) the spares chain for the Perkins V12 we got now... TBH the army is to tight fisted... Are getting some new Hydrogas that is apparently alot stronger.

Right, 1700 hp sounded like alot too tbh Shocked

Would the tank's mobility be improved in any significant way with "only" newer suspension? I'm guessing all the added weight from street fighter must also be having an effect. Sounds good that they're adding improvements here and there though.

Not likely to vastly improve it however with all the new operational MOD's the Chally can be up to 80 Tonne's. Considering the entry tank is around the 64T mark, upping the PSI in the units just isn't enough. In my time ive not known them to fail that often. however someone has seen an area for improvement and acted apon it, All welcomed of course.... except when they arrive and we have to change them all !!!!
